I have recently visited the beautiful Carter Estate Winery & Resort in Temecula and fell in love with the property, vineyard and its surroundings. Temecula Valley is absolutely beautiful and a hidden gem in Southern California. It is the perfect place for a short getaway from Los Angeles or San Diego and offers stunning landscapes and valleys. Temecula is a well known wine country. Thus, perfect for wine tastings with plenty of wineries to check out and also offers a lot of other outdoor activities.

Location

Located in the heart of Temecula, the Carter Estate Winery & Resort makes the perfect getaway from LA, OC or San Diego. Parking is available and you can reach restaurants and shops within 5 minutes of driving.

Rooms

The Carter Estate Winery & Resort offers two room options: Vineyard Estate Bungalow and Vineyard Estate Suite. We stayed at the Bungalow and the room offered a ton of space with 607 sq. ft.. Every room comes with a private patio area which is so lovely. Especially during morning and evening hours we enjoyed being on the patio. During cold days the fireplace in the room makes sure you don’t freeze and it stays cozy and warm. The views from the patios are incredible as you can see the lovely vineyard and mountains. I also loved the spacious bathroom that has both, bathtub and shower.

Dine Options

A continental breakfast is included in the stay and you can enjoy the breakfast on your patio with the sun warming your face. Another dining option on property is the Vineyard Grill which is open daily from 11am-2pm. There are a couple properties around that are super fast to reach by car and they offer great dining options as well.

Activities: Pool, Vineyard and Grounds

The beautiful resort is part of a vineyard. The vineyard already makes such a gorgeous place to just stroll around and check out the different grape types! In addition, you can also find Olive trees on the property and they also offer olive oil tasting. If you like to relax, you will loveI chilling by the beautiful pool area of the resort. Book a wine tasting and experience a variety of wines from their exclusive collection and discover a new favorite. Each wine is produced from only the best varietals and aged to perfection in European oak barrels. The winery is open from Monday – Friday 12:00pm – 5:00pm and Saturdays & Sundays 11:00am – 5:00pm.

Another amazing way to explore the valley and see the lush vineyards is by a hot air balloon ride. You can book a sunrise tour which surely will make a memorable experience. Since early mornings an be very chilly in the valley, make sure to bring extra clothing.

Stroll through Old Town Temecula

Temecula’s old town is adorable and worth a visit. We loved walking around checking out the vintage stores and museums! It almost reminded me of an old western movie! So many cute photogenic corners, shops, and restaurants.

Check out Alpaca Hacienda

One of the more unique activities that you can do in Temecula is visiting the Alpaca Hacienda. This fun hilltop farm offers private ‘Family and Friends Tours’ allowing its guests to walk the grounds, feed and pet the alpacas. On top of that you can even attend an educational seminar that teaches you some interesting facts and tips about these adorable animals. Visit the Alpaca Shoppe at the end of the tour and buy items made from luxurious alpaca fleece if you like.

Visit some of the local breweries

At the moment, there are 13 breweries in Temecula and those we’ve visited have been great. You’ll find them in historic Old Town, industrial parks, and even ranches outside the main downtown area. With so many incredible choices, it’s not hard to find something for everyone. Even someone who’s not a beer fan, can find some brews that they will enjoy.
