Planning a trip to Lake Garda can be overwhelming, especially since there are so many to choose from. But don’t worry, because we created a list that gives you an overview of the best towns in Lake Garda.

Canale di Tenno 

If you are driving to Lake Garda coming from the north, Canale di Tenno is one of the first towns you’ll see.

Nested in the foothills of Lake Garda, Canale di Tenno, a hidden gem near Lake Garda and one of most beautiful towns in Lake Garda, captivates visitors with its medieval charm. Walk through its narrow-cobbled streets, admire the artistic creations of local craftsmen, and enjoy great views of Lake Garda. 

Torbole 

Torbole, nestled on the northern shore of Lake Garda, is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. This charming town is known for its vibrant windsurfing and kitesurfing scenes. On top of that Torbole offers breathtaking mountain views. Sit down at one of the lakeside cafes and restaurants and watch the wind- and kitesurfers. Furthermore, take a stroll along the lake promenade and visit the historical town center. 

Riva del Garda 

Riva del Garda, is one of the bigger towns on the lake’s northern tip and for sure one of the most beautiful towns at Lake Garda. Explore the Renaissance-era fortress, La Rocca, for breathtaking panoramic views and explore the beautiful town center. Riva del Garda is a good place to do some shopping but crowded at times.

Limone sul Garda 

Limone sul Garda, perched on the lake’s western shore, is renowned for its lemon groves and quaint old town. Explore the narrow streets, visit boutique shops, or stroll along the scenic harbor. Don’t miss out on the picturesque ferry ride to other charming towns around the lake. For a delicious dinner, check out the Hostaria al buongusto. Sirmione 

Sirmione, located on a stunning peninsula at the lake’s southern end, is a medieval town with a fascinating history. Explore the Roman Villa, Grottoes of Catullus, and the Scaliger Castle. Relax on the public beach or take a boat tour around the peninsula to fully experience Sirmione’s charm. It was most likely one of the busiest towns at Lake Garda but for sure is also one of the most beautiful towns there.

Malcesine

Perched on the eastern shores of Lake Garda, Malcesine is a picturesque town boasting medieval charm, highlighted by the iconic Scaliger Castle. Its cobblestone streets meander past vibrant houses and cozy cafes, all framing picturesque lakeside views. The blue waters, in particular, create a calm setting for both leisurely strolls and exhilarating water sports. Unfortunately, we had to skip Mount Bald and Santuario Madonna della Corona due to bad weather, but it should be on your to do list if weather permits. 

Santuario Madonna della Corona 

Santuario Madonna della Corona is a unique church perched on a cliffside overlooking the lake. As you revel in the breathtaking views, take the opportunity to explore the sacred chapel built into the mountain.Moreover, hiking enthusiasts can venture along the scenic trails surrounding the sanctuary, adding an extra layer of exploration to this remarkable site.
